Manifesto of Futurism

1. We want to sing the love of danger, the habit of energy and fearlessness.
2. Courage, audacity, rebellion will be essential elements of our poetry.
3. Up to now our literature exalted thoughtful immobility, ecstasy and sleep. We want to extol aggressive movement, feverish insomnia, running pace, somersault, slap and punch.
4. We affirm that the magnificence of the world has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed. A racing car with its bonnet adorned with large pipes resembling snakes with explosive breath [...] a roaring car, which seems to ride on grapeshot, is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace.
5. We want to praise the man who holds the steering wheel, whose ideal rod crosses the Earth, which is also launched in a race on the circuit of its orbit.
6. It is necessary that the poet expends himself, with ardor, splendor and munificence, to increase the enthusiastic fervor of the primordial elements.
7. There is no more beauty, except in the struggle. No work that has an aggressive character can be a masterpiece. Poetry must be conceived as a violent assault against the unknown forces, to reduce them to prostrate before man.
8. We  are on the extreme promontory of the centuries! [...] Why should we look over our shoulder if we want to break down the mysterious doors ofImpossible? Time and Space died yesterday. We already live in the absolute, as we have already created eternal omnipresent speed.

 It is from Italy that we launch to the world our manifesto of overwhelming and incendiary violence with which we are founding "Futurism" today. [...]
