Historical Curiosities
The Trace(lat. Thrax) was a gladiator of ancient Rome, known for his unique fighting style and distinctive helmet. This athlete fought without protection, armed only with a short sword and defensive head armor. The most famous Trace gladiator is Spartacus who led the Third Servile War.
The helmet had a characteristic shape, with a hemispherical dome and wide brim that also protected the face, and a griffin on top, a mythological creature with the head of a bird of prey and the body of a lion.
