This Carrara marble reproduction represents the imposing Farnese Hercules, one of the most famous sculptures of the ancient world.

The original, a colossal 3.17 meter high statue dating back to the 3rd century AD, is preserved at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and is considered an absolute masterpiece of classical art. However, this same sculpture is in turn a copy of an even older work, created in bronze by the great Greek sculptor Lysippus in the 4th century BC.

The Farnese Hercules embodies strength and resilience, depicting the mythological hero in one of his most iconic poses: leaning on his club, Hercules rests after completing his legendary 12 labors, probably in the garden of the Hesperides. This posture reflects not only the hero's physical power, but also the introspection and weariness that follows his superhuman feats.

This Carrara marble reproduction perfectly captures the muscular power and serenity of Hercules' face, offering a work of art that combines beauty, history and mythology. It is a tribute to the craftsmanship of ancient sculptors and a reminder of the grandeur of the classical era.

Historical Curiosities

The original statue was discovered in the Bath of Caracalla in Rome, a place of relaxation and regeneration for the citizens of ancient Rome.

The work, with its symbolic meaning of triumph of human courage and strength, quickly became an emblem of these virtues. Hercules' feats, considered impossible for a mere mortal, represented the hero's ability to save and protect humanity in desperate situations.

The original version represented the pinnacle of sculptural art of the time, celebrating not only physical strength but also the balance and harmony of forms

The reproduction made in Roman times became a symbol of prestige and power for the Farnese family, from which it takes its name.

Even today, the work continues to be admired for its extraordinary beauty and the profound symbolic meaning it embodies.
