Tela Vesuvius Andy Warhol ( Pittsburg 1928 - New York 1987)Vesuvius  1985, present today in the gallery of the Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte, Naples.

Reproduction of the famous work of the pop art master who got his inspiration thanks to the meeting with the gallery owner Lucio Amelio, who managed to bring it to Naples together with  Joseph Beuys. The American artist created the work in series, as was his style, using different colors but always full of energy and explosiveness.

The work Vesuvius leads to a reuse by Warhol of the acrylic painting that he had abandoned in the 1960s in favor of screen printing. Its imprint still remains today in contemporary art and on its visual language based on seriality and on the influence of the mass media on the image.

"For me the eruption is a shocking image, an extraordinary event and also a great piece of sculpture. Vesuvius for me is much bigger than a myth: it is a terribly real thing ."
